About Lindsay – Founder of The Diet Plan
Hi there! I’m Lindsay Livingston, a Registered Dietitian (RD), freelance food writer, and busy mom of three living in Liverpool I’m also the founder and voice behind The Diet Plan, a trusted blog where I share real-life nutrition tips, easy meal prep strategies, and healthy family recipes that are both budget-friendly and approachable.
My mission? To prove that healthy living doesn’t have to be complicated—or expensive.
Since launching The Diet Plan in 2011, I’ve published hundreds of dietitian-approved recipes, offered meal planning guides and eBooks, and connected with a vibrant community of readers who want realistic solutions for feeding their families well.
Whether you're a busy parent looking for quick dinner ideas, a fellow RD seeking content inspiration, or someone working to build better habits, you're in the right place.
If you're interested, you can read more about my journey to becoming an RD.
Professional Background
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and completed my dietetic internship to become a Registered Dietitian. Over the years, I’ve worked as a freelance nutrition writer, brand ambassador, and recipe developer, collaborating with health-focused companies and creating content featured in major publications.
My unique perspective as both a nutrition expert and full-time mom means I understand the challenges of feeding a family—and I test every recipe in my own kitchen, with honest feedback from my kids!
Life Behind the Blog
I wear a lot of hats: I run this blog, care for my three young kids, develop recipes, and share real moments from our family life on Instagram.
My husband and I met our freshman year of college and married in 2008. After overcoming infertility, we now share a joyful home with our children, plus a dog and cat!
When I’m not cooking, writing, or kid-wrangling, I love reading mysteries, baking, and coloring to unwind.
My Food Philosophy
Healthy eating should be sustainable, non-restrictive, and rooted in balance—not perfection.
I believe in:
-
Nourishing your body without following fad diets
-
Cooking with real, whole ingredients
-
Teaching kids how to enjoy a wide variety of foods
-
Offering practical solutions for everyday family meals
My recipes reflect this philosophy: they’re simple, flexible, and designed to help you feel good—physically and emotionally.
